Software Engineer w/ Clearance Java/Desktop

POSITION SUMMARY / RESPONSIBILITIES

This position will be based out of the Washington, DC area, with potential work locations spanning Northern VA, DC and MD. The Engineer will join our elite Professional Services engineering team and be a key contributor to the evolution of our product. He/She will have an unparalleled opportunity to work directly with end users on a daily basis, solving real-life problems and making a true difference in the lives of some of the Country's finest. When he/she is not directly interacting with end users, they can expect to work from the comfort of their home or wherever they feel they can best get the job done. He/She will participate in all facets of the software development lifecycle and should be ready to tackle any job that takes our products forward. We are looking for engineers that can handle a fast-paced and dynamic work environment. He/She will:

• Quickly adapt to any new technology necessary to create innovative solutions.
• Be able to work with light direction.
• Interact with customers, partners, senior management and other team members professionally, in writing, in person, and virtually, as necessary.
• Define, implement and execute QA test plans and CM activities.

Some light travel may be required.

QUALIFICATIONS

Successful candidates will have the skills, knowledge and confidence commensurate with the following experience:

• Relevant and recent Java coding experience
• Strong understanding of Java language fundamentals and core computer science concepts
• Swing/AWT UI development experience
• Experience integrating with web service APIs (REST, SOAP, etc.)
• Proficient using standard SCM and build tools such as Subversion, Ant, Maven, etc.
• Excellent communications skills

In addition, the ideal candidate will have the following desired, but not required, skills:

• Knowledge of XML, RDF and OWL
• Experience with SQL and a range of JDBC databases
• Experience with search technologies such as Lucene
• Large scale ETL, data mining and analysis
• Excellent communications skills
• BS/MS in Computer Science or a related field
• Interest in Semantic Networks, Ontologies, NLP, machine learning
• Department of Defense (DoD) / Intelligence Community (IC) Experience
• Active Top Secret (TS) Clearance - (TS/SCI Preferred)
